The Custom Drawn Illustration and Map Process
  • The first step is to contact Nancy to discuss your project.  Clients often ask about cost.  To offer a reasonable estimate on cost, please provide as many details as possible.
  • If it is for a book or magazine article, the text is provided for information.
  • A preliminary layout is drawn and emailed for approval. The preliminary layout is an accurate indication of the design and elements that will be included in the illustration or map.
  • After approval, the watercolor and ink process is started. There is very little room at this point to make revisions, so the preliminary layout is a very important step.
  • When the map or illustration is completed it is delivered by Fed Ex if it is an original artwork request. If the map is for a publication it is sent electronically in a pdf or tif formatt as requested by the art director.
